Zhou Mingjie, a senior middle school teacher, graduated with a postgraduate degree, has successively won the honors of excellent teacher, excellent class teacher, winner of May 1st Labor Award, leader of geography discipline in Henan Province, first prize of provincial and municipal quality courses, first prize of provincial excellent papers, meritorious teacher and most beautiful teacher.

In 2022, the geography examination paper of the college entrance examination continued the propositional style in recent years, ensured a relatively stable question structure, appropriately controlled the information content of words and charts, and rationally configured various questions with different difficulty levels to give students a sense of familiarity and acquisition.

First, dig deep into the ideological and political elements of the curriculum and implement the fundamental task of Lide Shuren

Focusing on the background that the task of tackling poverty in the new era has been completed on schedule and the rural revitalization has been comprehensively promoted, this paper selects the outstanding achievements made by relying on its own characteristic and superior resources to improve the endogenous development momentum as a case to create test questions, so as to enhance students’ sense of national pride, social responsibility and mission of the times.

Questions 4 ~ 6 of National Volume B show that Dangxiong County, Lhasa City, Xizang Autonomous Region, has embarked on a road of industrial poverty alleviation with regional characteristics and modern characteristics in the process of tackling poverty, and examined students’ understanding of the natural environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and people’s understanding of developing agricultural production relying on the natural environment. On the basis of deepening the examination of moral education and intellectual education, we emphasize the guidance of students’ labor education, aiming at promoting students’ awareness of labor and striving to grow into all-round national pillars.

Second, guide the return to the essence of education and help promote the "double reduction"

Emphasize the profound understanding of the basic knowledge stipulated in the curriculum standard and the flexible application of basic methods and abilities, and guide teaching to set teaching objectives, implement teaching contents and reform teaching methods according to the curriculum standard. Through various ways of setting questions, we should strengthen the openness and dialectics of test questions, stimulate students’ innovative consciousness in the process of comprehensive analysis and problem solving, guide teaching to pay attention to the cultivation of students’ thinking ability, and break the learning and review preparation mode that leads to students’ rigid and solidified thinking, such as pursuing the only standard answer and summarizing the answering routines.

Question 37 of National Volume B, through a series of advanced and creative questions, requires students to describe, summarize and compare the direction and range of coastline changes in different places by integrating internal and external factors, so as to guide students to break through the mindset that "climate warming will inevitably lead to sea level rise", promote teaching and strengthen the cultivation of students’ scientific attitude of seeking truth from facts, thinking method of concrete analysis of specific problems and innovative spirit of daring to break through. The real problems in production practice and study exploration are widely selected to create situations, and the students’ ability to solve real problems with practical analysis is examined, so as to overcome the tendency of solving problems simply by rote memorization and "mechanical brushing".

Third, control the difficulty properly and highlight the basic backbone

The difficulty of this set of test questions is properly controlled, the gradient setting is reasonable, and the discrimination is properly controlled. At the same time, the advantages and problems in geography teaching can be effectively found. There are no off-topic and strange questions, and the examination focuses on the basic backbone knowledge of geography. The knowledge examined covers three major themes: physical geography, human geography and regional geography, covering three compulsory and two elective modules stipulated in the college entrance examination outline. From the perspective of questions and examination contents, they are all based on core and backbone knowledge, and the geographical backbone modules involved are: population and city (multiple-choice questions 1-3), industrial and agricultural production (multiple-choice questions 4-6), water on earth (multiple-choice questions 7-8 and 36), atmosphere on earth (multiple-choice questions 9-11) and ocean development and utilization (37). The test questions are highly oriented and realize the role of guiding teaching in the college entrance examination.

Fourth, highlight the concept of discipline literacy and ensure a smooth transition of reform

Based on different factors, different scales and development and evolution process, this paper makes a comprehensive, systematic and dynamic analysis of the regional geographical environment and its relationship with human activities, and guides students to develop comprehensive thinking literacy.

Question 11 of the National Volume B focuses on the characteristics of the pressure field on a larger scale, analyzes the differences and connections between the geological phenomena on different spatial scales, and guides students to deepen their understanding of the concept of scale and understand the comprehensive, complex and differentiated influence of different scales on geographical phenomena in the same area.

Based on different types of regions, from the perspective of regional characteristics, regional correlation and regional development, this paper analyzes regional geographical events in different time and space backgrounds, trains students to understand the geographical environment from the perspective of regions, and establishes the concept of promoting regional development according to local conditions. For example, in questions 7 ~ 8 of National Volume B, the diagram of the relationship between water level and discharge during the two floods of the Yellow River is given, and the ability of students to analyze complex geographical information by using graphic data is examined.

Generally speaking, this year’s National Geography Test Paper B basically continues the characteristics of recent years in terms of question design, content proportion and information presentation. However, the proposition is stable and changeable, the materials are novel, close to life and exploratory, which basically embodies the main spirit of the new curriculum reform in senior high school. The test questions are flexible and comprehensive, focusing on the candidates’ ability to obtain information, analyze problems and comprehensive thinking.

In the future, geography teaching should jump out of the sea of questions, reflect and summarize, grasp the main knowledge, cultivate the core literacy, and improve the key ability in combination with the actual life. I believe that everyone can handle geography questions with ease, and it is easy to get high marks in the college entrance examination.
